Dual dividing wall column (DDWC Prime) is an extension of our process intensification portfolio. DDWC Prime combines multiple conventional columns i.e. three or more columns into a single shell and produce four or more high-purity products.
DDWC Prime has higher thermodynamic efficiency than DWC’s with a single wall. The column uses multiple partitions / walls, some time overlapping with each other. The wall is placed inside the shell in such a way so as to minimize the complexities in liquid and vapor splits. This has made the DDWC an extremely viable technology.
These walls may be aligned in the column at a single or at multiple location. From outside it is no different from a simple dividing wall column but has the capability of delivering four or more high purity products. DDWC Prime is robust, flexible and easy to operate.
Dual wall columns are primarily used in large columns and has wide range of applications. DWC innovations has executed the following DDWC projects :
Light Naphtha Isomerization Unit: DDWC Prime column increases the RON of C5/C6 isomerization unit with hexane recycle from 88 to 90. The project involved the revamp of a conventional three product Deisohexanizer column to a four product DDWC Prime column.
Lubricating Oil Base Stock (LOBS) Unit: In this project, DDWC Prime produced four grades of lubricating oil in a single column.
