World’s first application of Dual Dividing-Wall Column technology in an ISOM unit increases throughput with no impact to product RON
Houston, TX: DWC Innovations LLC announces the successful start-up and commissioning of a Dual Dividing Wall Deisohexanizer Column in the Isomerization Unit of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) refinery at Manali, Chennai, India.
Project Overview
The project converted the existing Deisohexanizer Column into a four-cut Dual Dividing Wall Column (DDWC), producing Light Isomerate, Heavy Isomerate, Recycle stream, and a new product Pharma / Food Grade Hexane (PGH/FGH). The project also included a grassroots Benzene Saturation Unit (BEN Prime)also designed and licensed by DWC Innovations.
The revamped design was engineered to accommodate multiple feed and product scenarios, including the option to operate the DIH column in its original configuration, with no hexane product drawn. The revamp increased Isomerization Unit throughput with no impact to product RON.
This Deisohexanizer column revamp is world’s first application of Dual dividing wall column technology in an ISOM unit.
