Four DWC Prime columns replace a conventional seven-column train — a milestone in process intensification for the chemical industry.
DWC Innovations LLC (DWCI) today announced the successful completion and commissioning of a network of DWC Prime dividing wall columns at a chemical production complex in India. The project marks the world’s first implementation of multiple dividing-wall columns replacing an entire conventional distillation sequence within a single chemical process, according to the company.

A Milestone in Process Intensification
The project represents a significant process-intensification achievement: four DWC Prime columns now perform the separation duties previously handled by a conventional train of seven distillation columns. The streamlined configuration is designed to reduce equipment count while improving energy efficiency and overall process performance.
The plant successfully entered commercial operation and completed commissioning in June 2026. DWCI’s scope of work included development of the basic engineering package for the DWC Prime columns, along with the supply of the company’s proprietary internals.
